SEDC ProAM Competition @ Gresham Motorsports Park

Once again the guys at Southeast Drift put on a phenomenal event.  Having worked the night before I was a little late to the party but apparently it all worked out due to a push back in the day's schedule.  But alas I was able to get some shots in between the videos I was also shooting.  As I stepped out of the car onto the gravel that surrounds the track I immediately felt like I was swimming, except there was no water to be found.  

Marcos coordinated with Atlanta's own ATLFreestyle to give the crowd some very nice entertainment while the drifters prepped the cars for the next set of runs.  I have heard a lot about ATLFreestyle from a good friend, and his words were nothing less than spot on on how good these guys were at what they did.  Darrick Stafford and Chad Cohran tore up the asphalt, and by the end of the day they had a 4-wheeled beast join in on the shenanigans as well!  This event by far exceeded my expectations, I just only wish there were more people.....maybe this post, photo's and soon to come video will show you just how much fun one of these days really is, and next time *cough*July 31st in Nashville*cough* you will come out and enjoy!

Sofa King Fresh - 2k10

I must say Hotlanta has recently lived up to its name quite a bit recently.  After having spent the say at SED downtown, then coming out to the suburbs on Sunday for this event, it was like death.  The heat index was over 100* with humidty, and there was little or no breeze. But that didn't stop any of the attendees.  This was my first year coming out to the event and I have to say it was probably the best show/meet so far.

It was extremely relaxed, everyone there had a great attitude and the real feeling of the car scene could be felt.  It wasn't like some meets where domestics are over there, imports here, fitment way over yonder, and the hp cars on the opposite end.  This meet was an invite only, and I have to say a couple of the people I talked to thought it was a fitment only meet.

This was wrong; this meet was about people who are the local car scene, who do things on their own accord and don't care what others think.  They don't look for approval, they do as they please and it shows.  Their cars tend to have an influence on those that see them.  I asked Kashime, one of the organizers of the event to give me his thoughts/purpose behind the event and he left me with this, 

"SKF was meant to showcase some of the best we in GA and the southeast as a whole have to offer the world. For far too long the rest of America has looked down on us and left us in the shadows. Ever since 2008 when I started this meet the scene in GA has become a lot more like a family affair. And there have been more GA magazine features than ive ever seen in the past. Since 2008 we've been bringing people together. We've brought folks that never really had or took pictures of nice vehicles and mated them with some of the best photographers in the country. And in turn folks that were never recognized before are known countrywide. I've seen little names on the internet blow up. It's a real life social networking meet with good food and good people."

Kashime is known on the forums as "Dirty Octopus", so be sure to keep an eye out for him!  The other organizer goes by the name of "JITB" and runs SouthRn FresH,  his real name is Joseph though.  His view on the event is that "These meets start big things in the car scene for atlanta. But the previous public meets are open to bring new faces into the mix. Also this previous meet had an alternative purpose to help out a friend as well"

Kash & Joseph also did a little raffle to pass out some Posture shirts, stickers, and Zen Motors tag frames.  I didn't make a post about it, but a month ago maybe there was a local car guy that got into an accident with his Red S2k named Widdy.  Widdy lost his arm, and was ejected from the car during the accident, it was a horrible thing for anyone to go through.  All the proceeds from the raffle went straight to him to help with the medical bills (a helicopter was involved, its stacks of bills).  If you would like to help Widdy out and send him a couple dollars, please feel free to paypal money as a "gift" to "BabyallenI03 at hotmail dot com"
